I’m not familiar with sound healing

Sound healing is…

a practice that harnesses the power of sound to promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being — creating a space where healing can flourish. Rooted in ancient traditions and supported by modern science, sound healing involves the use of the human voice and instrumental vibrations, such as singing bowls, drums, gongs, and chimes, to go beyond mere relaxation and stimulate healing.

At the heart of sound healing is the understanding that everything in the universe, including our bodies, is in a state of vibration. When these vibrations are out of balance, it can lead to dis-ease. Sound healing works by producing vibrations that resonate with the body’s natural frequencies, gently guiding its systems into harmony with healing sounds. This process, often referred to as "entrainment," helps to restore harmony, reduce stress, and can improve many aspects of health, such as reducing anxiety and improving sleep.

The beauty of sound healing lies in its simplicity and accessibility. Whether attending a sound healing session, engaging in chanting, or simply listening to soothing frequencies at home, individuals can experience profound benefits. The gentle, tranquil nature of sound healing makes it a welcoming practice for anyone seeking to enhance their well-being, offering a pathway to inner peace and rejuvenation. By opening ourselves to sound’s healing vibrations, we welcome balance, calm, and renewal — reaffirming the profound connection between sound and wellness.

What preparation is required before a sound healing session?

The beauty of sound healing lies in its ease and accessibility - it’s truly for everyone.

Here are a few tips to make the most out of your experience:

  • Approach your session with openness and receptivity - come with an open heart and mind. If you find it helpful, consider setting an intention for your healing experience, much like you might do in a yoga class or when meditating.

  • Dress in soft, loose-fitting clothing for comfort and relaxation. While you’ll be laying down during a sound healing session, feeling cozy increases your ability to relax and unwind.

  • For group sessions, bring a pillow, blanket, and/or eye mask for added comfort. Group pop-up locations will typically supply yoga mats, bolsters and yoga blankets for your use as well.

  • Private sessions take place on a massage table, with a pillow, blanket, and eye pillow provided - though you’re welcome to bring personal items if preferred.
